Return to Search Process
Conduct Needs Assessment
Initially, we meet with key stakeholders (i.e., Search Committee/Board of Directors, management team, and others as appropriate) to understand needs, expectations, and priorities. Through these interviews, we determine the necessary experience and desired attributes of the ideal candidate. Then, we consider the organization's culture and vision to target a leadership style that will lead to a successful placement. The data we collect in these interviews is used to formulate the position description and to describe the opportunity to prospective candidates.
Position Description
Based on client input and our knowledge of the industry, we develop a comprehensive position description. Each description is customized to reflect the organization, position priorities, and scope of responsibilities.
Timeline
Working with the client's desired outcome, we create a timeline and manage expectations accordingly. The timeline reflects the length of time necessary to recruit a qualified pool of candidates whose backgrounds represent the experience, attributes, and leadership style that our client expects.
Research
In addition to our extensive database, we conduct targeted research to find the best candidates. We specifically contact executives who hold similar positions at competitive organizations.
Initial Candidate Identification
The initial pool of potential candidate resumes is discussed with the client. This ensures that we're on the right track of matching interested candidates to the ideal profile.
If there are internal candidates, we initiate contact to introduce ourselves, explain the process, and assure them that they will follow an identical process to external candidates.
We conduct in-depth phone screens with potential candidates to determine the strongest matches in terms of style and experience.
